Carl, excellent sculpting as usual, especially like the guys face, so full of character. Congrats. (y)

Cheers Ken

Brilliant sculpting Carl.I have no doubt this will be one of the star releases at Euro this year. Just one question, the chevrons of the lower right sleeve represent a year in service since 1914. From what I can see he appears to have too many chevrons for a piper from 1915.

Carl, another belter from your hands, Stunning bit of work indeed. Will have to see Steve at Euro about one of these.
Your figures just keep getting better. Any idea on price yet or do we need to wait on Steve and his holidays?

Don
PS Wheres his legs?

that's a beautiful sculpt. Being of Scottish origin and being brought up around Highland Games, I remember that very look on the faces of the pipers. The face is not in the least cartoony which is always possible when trying to catch an expression like that.

Yes, this is great and one that I shall definitely buy.
There is a lot of confusion about all sorts of aspects of the regimental piper.
Alas, there is no Pipe Sergeant, either! A three-stripe piper in any Scottish regiment in WWI was simply a sergeant. Sergeant J.Johnston of the G.H. was wounded on 25/09/15.
Sergeant-piper was the unfortunate name officially given to the pipe major.
Today, piper n.c.o.s wear a sleeve emblem above their stripes but I don't know if it was in use in 1914. Have you talked with the Gordon Highlanders' Museum in Aberdeen? They may have some pix for you.
Also, I think that the breast pockets at this time were pleated.
These are very minor details, though. Over all, this is a fine figure. Congratulations!

I agree with Carl earlier, I too want one. This one should be good for converting to other regiments as well. Excellent work.
