Is it me or have 54mm foot figure prices started to climb? It seems a year or so ago, medieval/ancients foot subjects were in the mid $20.00 range, then they started climbing over $30.00. Now they seem to be pushing up to $40.00 and over. Andrea is starting to get really pricey and the latest Soldiers Spartan Warrior is showing a $42.98 retail price. Ouch...

Well... I was speaking of the real world. eBay is often it's own little world of lunacy...

My avatar represents my other hobby. There are regular eBay examples of lunacy there as well.

Cheers,

Guys figure prices are going up after a relatively big period of stability, while metal price raises up almost every day. Now Andreais reallygetting pricey regardingtheir casting quality and total image of the figure, compared toother top brands like Elite, Pegaso, Romeo , Seil , e.t.c.

We just have to be more selective now....thats all

Final price on that figure - $218. What is going on?

In relation to Glens topic, if someone has this money to spend on a fairly ordinary Verlinden figure, why aren't they spending it on some of the class products coming from the manufacturers mentioned above? What would that money get me at a show, or from any of the long list of manufacturers who support PF?

i will prefer companies that serve the customer well with good castings .we are not millionaires to buy everything so i will buy only stuff from the top companies.its that simple

I just buy the ones I really like. Last year at Folkestone I bought a resin for 7 euro's. Mostly the metal ones cost me 20 euro's (more or less) but I'll never pay 218 dollars !!!!!! That's not worth it . After all, it's just a figurine, not a life elixer. If that's the future, I'll start trying to sculpt my own figurines.

The thing is, someone's paying those $40+ prices or those manufacturers wouldn't be able to hold their prices at that level.

Steve is right - SOMEBODY is buying figures at these prices. I'm trying to imagine who is buying those Andrea sets at $2K+ a whack!

I agree the answer is to be more selective. I used to buy a couple figures at a time at each show. Now, I plan my purchases much more carefully, and I buy less.

In fairness to the manufacturers, their costs (and the currency exchange rates) have all risen, and I believe the quality of sculpting and casting has never been better. I don't think they are gouging us.

FWIW, flats have remained relatively cheap, and are a very good alternative to the high price of rounds. Check them out.
