Marijn

Hoi Ducky,

Gino

Intrusion

No intrusion! I just managed to get most of it and thats all there is. Van Gils best of show is on here somewhere and it is well worth the award!:D

I'll translate.
Best of show and golden medall for Marijn van Gils.
Two golden medals for Mr. Staf Sneyers. I thought Mr. Kristof had silver and bronze, and more belgiums had also price but i don't remember what.
I had a bronz and highly commended.

Gino Poppe.

I'm gonna say something here that may set off a firestorm, and I don't intend it to, but I think my pick for best of show was Mr. Douglas Lee's diorama. Don't get me wrong, Marijn's piece is creative, and well executed, but I'm blown away by Mr. Lee's work and his piece impressed me more. OK, nuf said, hurl the written counter-jabs at will...........

Im amazed I actually understood that. But perhaps knowing Swedish, German and English helps?
Congratulations Gino!

Cheers

Not so surprising; when I was younger and traveled a lot with friends, I often noticed that Germans, Swedes, Danes and Norwegians understood what we were saying in Dutch (Flemish).

Hi Jay

I can understand the feeling that Douglas Lee's diorama would have been your choice, I can say it was under consideration for BOS, but a few things were pointed out, and so it was eliminated from the final decision. From this point, I would like to add that the final piece was chosen for its imaginative idea and the execution of the piece, this is not to say that it was better constructed than any other, but how it was constructed, considering size and detail. There were other brilliant pieces on the table, including a superb fantasy piece. In the end the decision was a very hard one to make......

I was lucky enough to get 2 commended’s, 2 Highly commended’s, 3 Bronze and a Silver.

Pity but this year had to experience Euro from home and through my mobile, with constant coverage from the Maltese gang. They have arrived early this morning so still hazy to update us with their pilgrimage but from what I was given 19 awards in all for us, no golds pity but most of our figures were awarded!!! From my side I have sent with Ray and Steve a bust [Capitano del Corso] and a figure diorama [St Elmo 1565] and both got Bronze. Will await the other guys to update us when they make it to the PC!

John,
Hisham posted this link over on Timelines:

It's a little cumbersome, and it takes just a minute, but yeilds a few good pics. Go to the "free" link, you get punished for 30 seconds or so by having to wait, but then you can download the file to your machine and browse at will.
