Is there an equivalent to the old Imrie Risley figure primer available? It seemed to shrink wrap the figure.

Kurt

You have me on that one! .. I have never heard of Imrie Risley! so it must be old!:ROFLMAO: Personally I use the, Games workshop (Citadel) stuff .. black or white. But have also used Holts car primer! and Humbrol Primer without any grief! ... I suppose it depends on the scale of figure that you are most likely to do!

Regards,

Mark

Like Mark I have never come across Imrie Risley Primer and I've been around a while ;)
I use Tamiya aerosol superfine grey primer which covers resin and metal very well and for the odd piece that's not worth spraying I use Humbrol Matt White enamel thinned with Humbrol thinners or cellulose thinners.

Any decent automotive or household primer in a spraycan should be similar Kurt, and for a big saving in $$. Lots of modellers today use one of the RustOleum primers, many from the Painter's Touch range.

Thanks Jon, I was unaware that Tamiya did a Superfine primer! .. I will look into this! .. perfect timing!(y)

I've just checked my can Mark and it isn't specified as Superfine just Fine Light Gray but I'm pretty sure it is finer than the white primer and is ofted called superfine. I can let you have a can if you would like to try it.

Actually I have in the paint drawer 1 bottle of the primer and 1 of the primer thinner that I've retained more for nostalgic reasons than any thing else. Seems that company went out of business years ago and I'm not aware of any primer like it. Einion is right though, there is plenty out there that will suffice. Anders Heintz mentioned in a thread several months ago about using an auto primer called 'Bright Touch'. I bought some in gray and black and am very pleased. Not only that, its cheap too. Don't remember exactly what I paid, but it was around 3 bucks for a 10 oz. can. You can't go wrong with this stuff.

Jon,... Thanks for the offer!.. I really appreciate it! but don't put yourself out.. (y). I will pick one up online! always ready to give new things a go! once I know it exists.;)

Sincerely,

Mark

Right. They list other brands, but not their old 'Original Military Colors' line. Still don't hurt to inquire with them though.
