Hi all,
I'm working on the Princess de Eboli bust from EVD. I'm struggling with the flesh tones and would like to know what you think of them. Only the face is complete with a little more work to do around the eye and the lips. Also is the eye okay? I thought the iris may be too large but only slightly.
Any feedback or advice would be great.

Thanks,
Andrew.

Very nice mate.
I think the eye looks great. I mightve put a black/very dark blue outer on the iris though.
I'm thinking the eye patch strap over the good eye should perhaps come come down a wee bit, to me it looks a littlle unatural.
I love the flesh as you eed to be extremely suttle with female tones and you've done this supremely well.

Hi Andrew!
Looks very attractive!! I like the eye and the flesh tones!
I agree with Grant about the eye patch.

I m sure that the result will be perfect!

I think you have done a great job on the flesh tones but if you add just a darker shade/wash where the flesh meets the clothing and a bit between her breasts plus one more highlight at the top of her breasts then it would make things pop a bit more(no pun intended). Her face is great.

Is this bust based on a film or modern portrait? All of the old portraits of the Princesa show the right eye with the patch..........

I really like the skintone's and declare them as finished on the face.
About the eye: i miss the black circle around the iris. Maybe that is the problem when you feel it is to large.

Right! I´ve seen an spanish movie about this princess and she wears the patch in the left eye. I think it´s a mistake beacouse the portrait made by Sanchez Coello, a contemporary painter of FelipeII court, shows the patch in the right eye.

Thanks guys, I'm glad the flesh is okay it took a while to get it to where it is. I'll definitely add the darker circle around the iris. As for the patch I've seen the portraits with it over the right and pics of the movie with it over the left, I'm guessing the portraits would be more accurate. I know in all the pics the patch is dark brown or black but I was thinking of using a little artistic license and doing it the same color as the cape, I figured a wealthy woman would have a patch for every outfit and occassion:)

Thanks Eduardo.

Here is an update of what I did today. I tried a few different ideas today, one was to try and give the flesh a sheen like you get with oils, acrylics look a little flat to me in that respect not sure if it worked too well though. I fixed the eye and the lips, started on the dress and the necklace and pearls.
Let me know what you think worked and what didn't.
Thanks for looking,
Andrew.

Wow Andrew, that's some quality painting mate. My only suggestion would be to highlight the top of the breasts a bit more, however the subtle contrast in skin tones probably mean that is unecessary. Love your work.

The skintones are for a female perfect. The eye is outstanding. I'm happy you didn't paint a catchlight.
You can go again to the lips. The left side has a darker spot between the lips then the right side.
Maybe (just neatpicking) fading the dark brown on the upper eyelash a bit more. I find the transition to hard.
