How do you apply printers inks over a large surface area? Do you need to use a medium?
Also When I tried to clean my brushes they didn't clean with water or white spirit what are you supposed to clean them with?
Ta in advance,
Grant

Grant, I've started mixing ink with Malmittel, purchased from Konrad Schulte's website. Very reasonable, and worth every penny. Failing that, try a matt varnish such as Humbrol, or the carrier from Humbrol metallic paints.

Hi Grant,

If the inks are from myself then they will paint straight from the brush and should clean up easily with white spirit, I've had no problems cleaning any spills to date

hope this helps

Hi Stu

Yep they're from you mate. My brushes just don't seem to clean with white spirit, dunno why. I will try cellulose thinners next time I use them. BTW Stu do you do a bronze ink?
Many thanks,
Grant

FWIW the best effect I've seen for this is by airbrushing them.

Since your inks are from Stuart then it's probably to do with your white spirit (which can vary). What kind are you using?

That should definitely work if you have no choice (but use adequate ventilation!)

BTW, on bronze, what are you aiming for, the colour of your typical bronze statue or polished bronze?

If you have a decent gold then you can modify it with a touch of this and that oil paint for the base (add Burnt Sienna, maybe a dot of Burnt Umber) and once that's dry go over the top with the dirtying colours.
