Hello everyone,

After some time I manage to finish the Highlander bust to my liking. The red is not so vivid in real model as in the photos. I am not sure why the camera took it so RED! I tried to imitate the sewing in the whites. The metals are oils Bellini (Silver and Gold) with some Black oil and Burnt Sienna oil. The red hue came from Red Paint Set from Andre. All the other paints are Vallejo Acrylics range. I hope that you like him.

Thank you for your comments my friends Keith and Carl!

Keith all were painted with acrylics. Even if I was a long time oil painter and in some case I am still using them (for horses, big leather surfaces, big scale faces…and metals) I think that acrylics give you more control to your painting. And what you paint is what you will have. In oils you loose a lot of contrast in wet on wet technique and you need to pass again some lights and shadows...You can add some Glaze medium for more matt finish and gain a little delay in drying time so you can paint easily lines, small details etc. The black lining is also very tricky with acrylics that can destroyed all you hard work if you paint by mistake your white leather…And for WWII themes or fabrics I think it is necessary to use matt agent (Flat base Tamiya or Gunze). And oils are perfect for washes in the groundwork!!!(burnt umber..I love this color!!) and dry brush in rocks, sand, etc...

Keep Modelling!!!
