Private John Barry VC

This is a conversion of a Art Girona figure, all uniform details were removed and the revelanrt uniform re-sculpted using Magic Sculpt/lead foil.
The Maxim gun is by Mountford Miniatures.

Private John Barry, Royal Irish Regt. was the first VC winner of the 20th century and the first posthumous winner.
Barry was the company maxim gunner and during an engagement with the Boers on Monument Hill on 8.1.01 the British forces were forced to withdraw. Private Barry, unarmed, ran back to his Maxim gun and disabled the mechaism to prevent it being used by the enemy. The Boers, probably out of frustration, shot him 18 times , he died next morning of his wounds.

Very, very nice, Stephen! Good groundwork and pose. Just excellent all around! I think many of the VC, Medal of Honor, and Iron Cross winners could make great dioramas like this one. A little research and planning pays off handsomely!
