Following on from my last update,i have moved on considerably with the painting stage, however this is nowhere near completion yet as there are many things to finish.
I had another session with the face which I was then happy with and then moved on to the 24th colour,i started by painting the red centre and some light shades and lights were added along with the lettering, this I still need to tinker with in regards to some deeper shadow colour and some lining and shading on the lettering to complete, this next stage will make it stand out a little more.
The water canteen is just plain resin in the kit,but they were actually wooden, for this I created the wood grain with acrylic paints and finished it in oils along with the strap,i may add some regimental mark to this before completion of the bust.
The red jacket has had the lights and shadows attached,i always favour the faded look on red jackets as I feel it gives the piece a real campaign look,i will add some more faded red lights but with some dirt / mud colour to finish it off on the next stage.
the musket was painted in different tones of acrylic and finished with a sepia oil wash, the metal parts of the musket and the tunic buttons were finished in dark star metalics along with some Windsor and newton silver ink for the catchlights.
I have added the green acrylic base to the rest of the regimental colour and will finish in oils nearer completion.
the ammo cartridge box I have gived a black acrylic undercoat and again this will be completed as one of the final stages of painting.
another few lights are needed to the hands for me to feel happy with them.
The belt has also has a white acrylic basecoat and will be completed on the next session.
I have not done any painting on the backdrop swamp trees yet, this I will do during the wekk and hope to have finished before next weekend.
