Hi All,
My local model club had a themed competition for July, the theme this year was MUSIC. So any model you could relate to a song, band name etc.
I chose Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze as it reminds me of the scene in Platoon when the grunts are getting high. Also the smoke grenade purple haze scene from apocalypse now i wanted to use in my model. I searched the internet to find some reference pics. I found one of a camping ground and used that for my inspiration.
I built 7 figures from Bravo 6 & 2 figures from Elite Miniatures. I used Verlinden's camping ground equipment and stowage equipment to build up the groundwork. I put some P38 body filler on the base to get an uneven rough ground and painted some Vallejo mud effects on top. The tree's & hedgerow I made from copper wire, then placed some brown wool roving on the top and added various herbs for the leaves. The purple / violet smoke effect was made by again using some colored wool roving. I added small amounts of cotton wool the the cigarettes and the shotgun to create the smoke effect.
It took about a month to build but it was very enjoyable to do. Hope you like it.
