what about

"Fallschirmjäger mit Scharfschützengewehr" which means: paratrooper with sniper rifle
"fallschirmjäger scharfschütze" sounds a bit clumsy. If you want to say that it means:"Scharfschütze der Fallschirmjäger"

german is quite complicated;)

Andreas

A title like "Scharfschütze der Fallschirmjäger" looks and sounds cool.
The problem is that it would not be so "catchy" to majority of modelers.
The word "Fallschirmjäger" alone is difficult enough... :(
Or does it matter?

The armature is almost done for this figure. No pics yet!

Hi Taesung,

I would name it in this way (Reg. Nr. is just an example):

"Scharfschütze - II./Fsch.Jg.Rgt: 3" - perhaps adding the year of the war.

I think this would name all the important details.

Hope thsi helps a little bit.

Maybe place the Para at Seelow Heights as the 9th F fought well there to halt Zhukov`s advance for a bit.

I can imagine a bit of sniping went on there from the fortified emplacements

Taesung,

seems Ramcke FJR brigade in North Africa may have had snipers, can't find much else at the moment... oops there goes your winter camo I think :)

Taesung,

it also appears that the FG42 Fallschirmjagergewehr could accept a Zielfernrohr (sniper visor), for sniper work ; this weapon was very precise up to 100 metres.
FG42's of the first model were used in the action at Gran Sasso, and at Monte Cassino.
Later the FG42 was also used by Fallschirmjager in Normandy I believe.

I hope this helps,

cheers

Johan

I'm trying to find out different painters' schedules now.
Once confirmed, the casting will be sent out.

This figure is actually doing something... no pointing.
