Hi to all on PF ,

Sometimes the joys of reviewing are realised when you can see a beautiful woman in front of you , this has happened with a nice release from Linjo .

What we have is a female member of the Qing dynasty , a period of stabilty with the influence of the outside world not affecting the Chinese culture and fashion .

Colours were bright and have meanings, Red symbolises the positive aspects of life such as happiness, wealth, fame etc. Red is always associated with good luck.

Headdress was spectacular often with tassels and flowers being seen .

Moving onto the model itself , which truely shows the beauty of the Qing female .

Subject Title: Qing Dynasty Woman

Scale : 200mm

Material : Resin

Reference Number : LJ 20008

Sculptor : Chun MeiZhou

Box Art : Hongwei Qin

As usual with Linjo On opening up this review model is packed in an extremely strong black cardboard box with a full colour picture on the front of a painted model (fine painting by Hongwei), colour representation being very well reproduced , altogther great presentation .

On opening the box up I found that it was full with 12 pieces (cast in a cream resin) which is safely kept in place by pieces of
foam as is normal with Linjo products.

The model itself consists as said of 12 pieces , the main torso with head , main piece of the hat, the dress itself, 2 flowers and a small pedastsal base , the remaining pices are secured in a plastic bag these being 2 real silk tassels , the neck strap for the dress 2 pieces for the headdress and the lower part of the hair at the nape of the neck ., casting plugs are evident but as with others in the range easily removed .

Looking first at the torso itself :

This has been sculpted unclothed with nice proportions in all area's , shoulder and neck tone is really good , this is an unusual and interesting way of doing things with the modeller "dressing" the bust as he progresses .

On the review model there was a fine casting line under the chin and down the front of the neck , this took me exactly 1.5 minutes to clean up using wet and dryso now concerns there .

The finish on all the torso is like marble and very smooth , making painting a joy .

Looking at the face , a real beauty showing al the wonderful chinese features , lips are well done and in total proportion to the rest , she even has very delicate ears , the hair is finely done as well ,pulled back and dressed at the back (there is a small bottom piece to fit at the back of the neck) , in the hair are pearls/beads and nice decorations on the side .

On now to the clothing she is wearing :

As I said an usual but refreshing way of presenting but a a nice idea , you will need to fit a strap around her neck using the piece if lead sheet provided (top tip :if you loose this use some from a toothpaste tube ..after cleaning it out of course!!!! or you could replace it with some braided cotton/silk thread) .

Dry fitting the piece resulted in a perfect fit , there is some casting excess to remove from the base .

Painting can be done either separately or after you have fitted , the front is decorated with a wonderful flower (Lotus I think ...hey come on I don't do gardening ;)) , this is a good oportunity to test your painting skills with the end result being very striking .

On now to the rest of the pieces :

First we have the main part of the headdress which fits with no problem i the locating areas on the top of the head , after removing a small casting residue , the ends are detailed with some fabulous butterflies ..a credit to the scluptor showing a very delicate hand .

Then we have the 2 flowers , 1 larger which fits to the front of the headdress and the smaller to the back ...small casting excess needs to be removed ..easly done as usual . The detailing on both of these are really well done which when fitted and even when unpainted produce a fabulous headress .

Opening up the little plastic bag there are 2 pieces of decoration in cream resin, each is fitted to the rear of the headdress with the tassels being secured through the gaps .(also shown in the picture is the base of the hair)

Onto the tassels themselves ..what a novel and IMO succesful idea , in silk with a tiny bead at the top and some wrapping underneath , very delicate and effective , these are what will be a talking point in your display , enhancing the model immensley .

The base is a different one to the others in the range a taller pillar type to allow for the way the model has been sculpted , fitting underneath the shoulders . you could of course just use brass rod if you choose .

Final thoughts on this release :

Conclusion:

This bust will provides hours of fun from the time you open the box to the time you display in the cabinets ..giving this pride of place .
Linjo have pushed the sculpting as the female form is so difficult to reproduce , much thought and consideration for the modeller has gone into this release .

Finish is very smooth with minimal prep work needed , different materials being used all adds t the overall result.

This is a credit to both the sculptor (Chun MeiZhou) and the box art painter (Hongwei Qin) and it shows that Linjo can maintain the very high standards in all their range .

Finally for you pleasure and as a reference for the fitting of the pieces I have posted the pictures from the website

Another Extremely Highly recommended model (y)
