I'm doing the final touches on my 1/10th bust of a us marine during Vietnam. I would like to know, what colors to use to weather his flak vest? I have from mig Vietnam earth (P031) but it seems a little to red to just have his vest dusty. I did see the pigment light dust (P027) would that work for the look I'm going for? Can you mix them to get a lighter shade of the Vietnam earth color? The reason I'm asking is that every time you see color photos of the war their vest are so dusty in a light grayish color. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Chris

My personal suggestion would be to ignore what AK call the different pigments.....go with how you feel it should look....use reference pics etc.
You can intermix pigments...to a lesser degree than other mediums....
My personal preference is pastels.....you can buy a reasonable set of colours for far less than a range of pigments....

I'll second Ron's suggestion. I don't even use commercially prepared pigments. I have a set of chalks in a range of earth tones, from a very faintly brownish yellow to a dark brown, and several in between, as well as black. I grind 'em myself and just eyeball the colors. Trust your eye, over the label.

Prost!
