I'm super excited to go to the Expo and see some great work and meet some members of the Planet. Question, though. I've never been on a Subway, don't even know what one looks like. I understand the map on the Expo site and where I have to change trains, but my question is, how or where do I pay to be able to use the subway?

I'll be flying in around 5:00 on Thursday. Hopefully some of you will have arrived by then.

Thanks

Cool, a first-time subway rider! It's fairly easy, just be ready to experience the "grit" of American urban life. All of Boston's subways are quite safe, although parts of the Orange Line can be a bit uncomfortable at night.

As you come out of the airport, look for signs for the Blue Line. (The subway in Boston is referred to as the T, for MBTA.) You'll need to take a bus/shuttle from the terminal to the T station itself.

When you get to the station, you'll want to take the Blue Line "inbound." Get off at Government Center, and then look for the Green Line. There are multiple lines on the Green Line (A, B, C, D, etc.), but any one will do. Look for those going "inbound." Take the Green Line to the Arlington stop.

When you come upstairs to street level, you'll be on Arlington St. The hotel will be a couple of blocks south I believe.

You can buy the token/pass at each station, which are $1.25. I'd recommend having some small bills on you just to make things easier. You might consider buying a multi-ride or weekly pass.

Steven,

Thanks! I like to know kind of what to expect and that helped a lot. I'm sure I wont have any problem.
