Aye, but that's what we are here for;
to encourage you to underestimate your abilities
And have a good old go !
Why make new blades from scratch every time ?
Good luck have fun either way.

Paul

Barry... Might take you up on the Thompson some time, would like to make one eventually (y)

Barry & Paul... What types of sword are we talking about medieval, ACW, Napoleonic etc I might be interested in doing some sets of swords in 1/16 scale if the need for them is there.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve thanks for the offer I'll have one of everything please!
Seriously, in this scale I don't know which would be the most popular.
I've been making mini-art stuff for ages and just improving them with my own helmets and swords.
Going by what's released in the new minis pages maybe a mix of blades from a simple dark ages Sax to late
mediaeval hand and a half sword with fuller.
If you go for later swords, french napoleonic and highland broadswords would predominate I think.
I also wonder if laminating etch nickel would be a cost effective method of production in the larger scales because I'm not convinced there's a huge demand. I would do blades and hilts as seperate items too.
There was a release of 54mm blades by nimix, (but in brass) of a range of napoleonic blades, I don't think they were very successful.
Sorry my thoughts are a bit random, it's an on the spot gut reaction answer
As ever
Regards
Paul

Paul some good ideas to get started with, I will have a chat with my good mate Helm and see what can be done, I know very little about bladed weapons but I do like the idea of maybe throwing a few sets out for those doing conversions/ sculpting.

All the best
Steve

You said,
"Paul, some good ideas to get started ..........I do like the idea of maybe throwing a few sets out "
I know I'm quoting out of context, but I got a picture of our poor old mate
on a revolving table, with kukris, kris's, bowie's and skean dbhu's thudding around him
and you saying,
"whaddya think of that one?,
and this one?,
well do you like this one more?
Ha ha ha ha
I have some scale plans for Crimean period british
Swords of each regiment and corps if you need 'em mate.
Let me know if I can be of help.

No worries, let me know if and when you want to do the Thompson. It is an early model suitable for Commonwealth Forces use. I also can get access to a Bren and probably others via some mates.

All of the above probably, but let me put a list together for you. Thank you!

I didn't see it mentioned in this thread, but for 54mm, you can look for Airfix and Historex kits, too. I look for them at shows and on eBay, for the extra bits with weapons.

Prost!
Brad

Me too Brad, you cannot get enough of them bad boys, I love 'em to bits.
Brian was asking though, and so we were more focused on, the larger scales really, in particular
Sources of 1/16th or 120mm if you like bladed and other weapons
Nice to chat again, a while since we have
Regards

Paul

Steve,
I would welcome swords suitable for the Roman, Medieval and Napoleonic periods I think. I may possibly add to that list in time. I would buy them.

Thanks
Snowy
