Greetings.
Can you help with any information regarding The Hussars Officers Patrol Jacket worn between 1881 - 1902. As shown below.

Was it as the name suggests worn by officers out on patrol. If so would it be just in the UK OR abroad, OR on active service.
Or was it more of a walking out dress ie a No2 dress.

What type of head dress would be worn with it. I note the side cap is shown on this photo, what about a pill box?

Were any side arms carried with this uniform? Or pouch Belts. Sam Brown, etc

Any information will be greatly appreciated

Mick

PATROL JACKETS

The patrol jacket introduced in 1868 was to be worn in quarters, on leave or in town when not on duty. It was not to be worn with sword belt or sword or on campaign or on peace manoeuvres. As usual, such prohibitions were often ignored.

Thanks Chris.

I am going f..kin round the bend, I must have read uniformology a dozen times prior to posting and didn't pick up on it.
Thanks again ( remember its nice to be nice to the old at christmas)
