It has been a while since I have been here as well as painting figures. So i am a little rusty and I need to get back in shape with my figure painting.
So I have a couple of questions about my Jo Sonja paints that I have when it comes to painting civil war figures mainly union troops. Now I just read last night an article on how to paint the uniforms (dark blue) of the union army. It said that you use dark Prussian blue with a little black to get the base color, than you use for the mid tones go for the Prussian blue hue and for the highlights ultramarine blue. This seems a little stark contrast,is this correct? Is there a better way to paint union army uniforms in the Jo Sonja paint line? Any suggestions will be very helpful.
Thank you.

Hi
For a dark uniform .....I would start with a black undercoat
then put on blue black.... highlight up with a lighter blue
mixed into your base to keep the colours relative to each other
high highlights can have a tiny bit of white mixed in to lighten
further
its all about experimentation .... if you want to try it
a very diluted purple wash over can help pull it all together

Just some thoughts
