Mongo Mel
A Fixture
Hello again all.
Well, I managed to finish something again... hurrah for me
I got a copy of the Quint bust from White Shark Gaming and since I already had the Great White Shark piece from Pegasus Hobbies, figured I had to try mounting them together.
So many difficulties with the shark that I had pretty much given up on it. Besides the problems I had trying to make the seams disappear (I think it was the problems with sanding hard Aves putty on semi hard vinyl kit), then the lacquer based primers refused to dry. Strip and re-prime with acrylic primer and try again.
them came the water. White glued a piece of card stock to a nice, wood base to act as a water barrier to Celluclay. First layer went great. Second layer to add some waves...all good. Third application and it must have been too thick. Found the Celluclay and card stock curled up badly on one end. Thought about trying to soften the Celluclay but decide just to go with Aves to make the water.
Oh, the Quint bust went off without bit of drama. Very nice piece and a terrific likeness.
So, here is the end result. Not great but I'm really glad I stuck it out.
Thanks for looking and any constructive criticism is always welcome.
