Very nice figure, and good to see naval subjects as mentioned before, but I have a teense-weensy remark - The deck planking runs 90 degrees in the wrong direction (it should be parallell with the keel, not perpendicular) and there is no water way (a slightly thicker plank against the deck). Also, the size of the canon indicates it should be located at a lower deck, while the scene seems to be located at top deck (has to do with keeping the point of gravity as low as possible).
Slainte.

L.H.,
I believe this is supposed to depict one of the stern chaser guns? If so, it would explain the the position of the gun above deck, and the orientation of the deck planking.

I'd guess it's one of the brass long nines used as a bow chaser. Still needs a margin plank and waterway but that's easily fixed, along with the full breeching tackle.Lovely figure. Hope there's more to come.

I don't think so, and I base myself on the railing (particularly the decoration) and the apparent size of the gun. Also, stern chasing guns were usually located below the captain's cabin (i.e. fully enclosed, so no rail). Anything located at the stern deck would most likely be a type of swivel gun rather than one on a carriage - again, this has to do with attempting to keep the point of gravity as low as possible (the large masts and sails do give an increased risk of the ship topping sideways).

Mind you, I do not wish to detract from the excellent sculpt, only that this detail caught my attention because building period Ships of the Line in wood in another of my hobbies. I am seriously considering adding this figure to my GA, and if I do I will most likely change the scene to make it more 'historically acceptable' - but that is me o_O

I think this would be a lower level gun because of the size of the barrel. Bow chaser would be more comfortable with a smaller barrel but I think the cannon would be more diagonal with the deck planking being at the bow of the ship....I've forgotten most of what I used to know about old ships but for me I love this concept and sculpt and just might have to pull the trigger on this one if I can ignore the inaccuracy.

Never seen a hinged lid in the transom before but as the figure is based on the film character and there's the lid I suppose it fits. Jotika still have their Surprise proto-type on their web-site with no suggestion of ports there. If anything I'd expect davits.
Still a lovely figure-and it'd be more fun knocking up your own bit of deck.

Absolutely magnificent! it is a very beautiful painting on a superb sculpture! A very nice piece like know how to do Alexandros! Congratulations and thank you for proposing always as many beautiful creations :D(y)

A lovely sculpt though I cannot comment on the accuracy as ship's aren't my special thing.

Cheers

Regardless of the fact there may be a couple of minor errors, who cares, its based on a film, which often has errors of some sort.
This is a stunning piece, and will be a real eye catcher in any model cabinet or competition table.
It is about 90 euros, ouch, but one I'll certainly want in my collection.

I go for this one for sure. Despite the discussion about planking.
I like the display from the three pieces as well. Great work!
