I know that it is a very old figure from Poste Militaire, but I love it. So I start a try to paint it and here are the first results. I use first acrylics, then oil colours.

I have some problems, because the bust (expecially the skin tones) looks very different, when I put the bust with the cape and the hat as each part alone. So I will make the last corrections when the bust is put together.

For the photos I have it put together provisional.

Ulrich,
Great flesh work , the blanket is great is it based on an original one ........just got mine out of my grey army !!!!!!

Regards Kev

Thank you all very much.

@ Kev. I don´t know if the colours of the blanket based on a original one. I have seen in a magazine a painting bust of Charlie and this was my pattern. But I found in a catalogue of a german firm called "Hudson´s Bay. Indian Trading Post" a original pattern from tradecloth called "Rainbow Ribbon". After 1870/1880 this tradecloth was trade in red or dark blue with stripes in the colours of the rainbow. So I think, the used colours are not wrong.

Today I will put the bust together and start with the last corrections.

Thanks Perikles and Christos. I was very happy as I could buy this bust some times ago, because only one dealer in germany has had three of them. It was very difficult to find the bust.

Perikles. I think, you know that the blanket is special sculpted. Is is very rough, so I didn´t know, how to paint it and, more important, how it looks after my painting. Your comment show me, that is not to bad
