Gerard, I agree with the others, this is an outstanding piece of art. Those banners are unbelievable, and the quality of painting is top notch. For me, this is up there as one of the nicest busts I've seen painted.

Gerard,....All I can say is ..WOW!.........Something you have obviously put a lot of work into and a pleasure to view and...and....and...I love it....Can't say enough...except keep up the great work..........Best regards for a job well done.............Wayne

Gerard,
Fantastic work!! What a feast for the eyes! The banners, his face, everything about him is first class. You should be very proud of your achievement.

Best Regards,

Rod

Absolutely stunning!
Excellent conversion on the bust.
The paintwork on the flags is fantastic.
Great "fleurs de lys" pattern.

Just beaut!
How'd you create the banner & pennant?
Also painting steps on these woul be handy :)

Thanx in advance,
Mike

Hi mike! Firstly I made the banners with plumb foid and bended them to my taste, then I prepared a thin layer of magicsculpt and let it harden just a little for a while an place it over the plumb "master"
The plumb banner was previously covered with talc powder, that will prevent magicsculpt from sticking to the plumb.Once tottaly hardened just need to detach the putty from the foil. The braided contours were sculpted later directly on the the banner
And about the painting, there is no magic trick there, If you take a look to my WIP, I painted the backgrounds ( in oils) and then went for the freehands sketching them with a little pencil mark
Cheers

I agree with everything that has been said previously, great piece of work Gerard.
You know your talent is wasted painting these, get some flats. :playful::playful::playful::D

Roger.
I've been tempted more than once Roger. I remember a flat set of marching ACW confederates that really draw my attention but I forgot who was the manufacturer..
Cheers
