A brilliant concept ken!

Having spent a good fifteen years as a re-enactor I can totally emphasize with this piece. Our unit (the French 9eme Legere) was made up of young HJ rejects who mercilessly took the piss out of any unit that had within their ranks overweight/ women/ children or sloppy/ non authentic drill! We made a lot of enemies, but by God we were good! We drank hard, and quite rightly gave up when we hit 30!

Cheers,
Jon.

Great sculpting.
I felt the humor somehow.
I liked it very much.
Amazing as usual.

Mitsutaka

Ken,
really a great work and original idea!

LOL..this guy doesn't suffer the hunger in war LOL :D

regards from Italy
Andrea

...All reenacting has it's share of "drunk, tubby, bearded guys".

Mario, many thanks for kind words, glad you like him.

Jon , always appreciate your comments, many thanks.

Mitsutake, many thanks.

Andrea, you're right, at least he could always call at McDonaulds on the way home after a hard days campaign.:D Thanks

Jason, for some reason large pirates look right, maybe lack of excercise at sea or something, poss beer swilling.:)
Many thanks
Cheers Ken

Dan and Mark, many thanks for your comments, all I have to do now is decide on the groundwork, he's either in a field or in a carpark, not yet decided.
Cheers Ken

Up-date

Decided on him being placed in a field or wooded area rather than a carpark, so that maybe he's waiting for the signal " Virginian's, for your mothers, for your sweethearts...etc etc " and he's getting ready to make the charge for the angle .;):).
The coke bottle and Fries carton are not finished, is it OK to advertise McDonalds or Coca Cola.??? or do I paint them similar?.
Many thanks for looking.
Cheers Ken

carl.

Carl, thanks for the comment but I'm afraid I strongly disagree, some people still eat regularily at McDonalds:eek: and although it might be crap, at least it's tasty crap.;):) ( I'm after being sponsored for showing Fries carton ):D:D
Cheers Ken

Finally got to the stage where I can post some progress. My first attempt at painting in Acrylics, after several unsuccessful years using Enamels.
Many thanks to Andreas ( je touche ) for suggesting a mobile phone, hope I've pulled it off -it's in his pocket. :)
Many thanks for looking and as always all comments are welcome.
Cheers Ken

Excellent work Ken! Fantastic!
Only one small suggestion. Put an empty or half empty can or bottle somewhere, because he drinks something, and the coke is full, (not that it can't happen...)

Carl, many thanks

George, thanks for the suggestion, I pondered over this and couldn't see how you could paint a 3D solid glass bottle showing it to be 3/4 full, I was hoping no one would notice;):).

Cheers Ken

Love the figure and as a Confederate reenactor (Coy B, 57th Virginia Infantry, no farbs, women or children please) all i can say is can I get one of these? BTW, I saw this guy at 145th Gettysburg!
