Hi guys,

I'm currently in the process of painting my Roman Tribune Bust (WIP here)... as always, boring along the way and went side track :D

Looking at my old figures, Tamiya 1:16 Rommel which I've painted couple of years back (one of my favourite)... I've notice my painting style changes through these years.

so I've decided and "RE-PAINTED" my Rommel :)

I supposed the most obvious changes will be the strong pushing of hilight and shadows. You can see the differences comparing between from the pictures posted below.

Hi cptan,

Your repainted Rommel looks much better than your first effort - well done. Makes me think its time to give my 1/16th Tamiya Rommel a touch up!!

The only thing I spotted was the gap between the ground and his heels and the pin sticking out of his heel into the ground. From these pics he seems to be standing above the ground, not on it.

Ideally you should push his feet into the groundwork while its still drying to convey a sense of weight.

Cheers

Tony has a good point. Also, your figure does look better. With that said, I would personaly, never go back and repaint any of my old figures. We all progress, looking back to see how and what changes you've made are half the fun! I keep mine around as a reminder of how I've improved and where I need to improve. Not that I'm trying to say what you did something wrong, I just like to keep the old chaps around as a learning tool. Nice work!

Hi Cptan,
I did the same thing about a year, or so ago but in the process the anti gas goggles were broken.
So have replaced them with ones from the Afrika korps tanker, but I never got around to finishing him,

You have just provided the inspiration to do so.

Chris
