Packaging and Contents
The kit was ordered directly from Tiny Leads Miniatures in Spain and arrived in perfect condition without any damage at all. The model arrived in a hard plastic clip fastening case with a paper piece of box art stuck on the back. The face and mask where in a plastic bag and all parts where wrapped in bubble wrap offering good protection. This is a very no frills form of packaging but did a perfectly adequate job and with only 4 parts there was plenty of room inside the box.
The contents inside the box consists of 4 parts being the torso the head the mask and the hands holding the werewolf head.
Kit Components
Torso
The model has been sculpted in 1/12 scale and has only two pour spouts connecting the bottom of the coat to the arms, other than that there is minimal clean up to be done. There is also a hole situated at the back for a rod to be put in to attach the bust to a plinth.
The torso is packed full of nice details such as the lacing up the front of the coat and down the side of the sleeves. On top of the shoulders are two nice little straps to fasten the cape, these really are a testament to the sculptors skill to get so much detail into something so small.Another thing I love is how the pony tail has been cut off where the strands join so it will marry up perfectly with the pony tail section on the head, and from test fitting it does meet up perfectly. I really appreciate the effort on something like this as it saves the painter a lot of putty work trying to get two hair pieces to match up, with this the sculptor has already done this for us.
This being red riding hood one of the most important parts is the riding cape and on this model I think they have got it spot on. The cape is very well sculpted with beautiful folds and drapery and a perfectly executed hood, it actually feels as if the hood has real weight in how it hangs and the cape flows perfectly as if caught by a light gust of wind.
Head
The head doesn't really have any pour spout or any casting block, there is just one point at the base of the neck that will need a light rub with some fine sandpaper or a file. The face is beautifully sculpted with a wonderfully classical look and is very serene with those soulful eyes. I think this works really well when paired with the fact she is holding a severed werewolf head and just looks so calm and peaceful 
.
.On top of the beautiful face is some lovely hair pulled back into a pony tail which as stated before joins perfectly with the pony tail on the torso. There is a single piece of cord sculpted going around the back of the head towards the sides and this matches perfectly with the mask. From a test fit it all aligns perfectly and looks great when added, it's only a pity the beautifully sculpted hair on top will be covered.
The Mask
The mask has a single pour spout at the base of the chin area which will be clipped of easily, there are no strong mould lines so not much clean up to do to have it ready for painting. I still can't work out exactly which animal this is meant to represent, for me it looks like a cat and most people I show it to agree but some seem to think it looks more like a fox. Whichever animal it represents I think it's a stylish addition to red riding hood and it really is a blank canvas for the painter to put there own mark on this piece. The only other thing to mention is the notches on the side of the mask which line up perfectly with the cord on the head completing the effect of the mask being worn perfectly.
Werewolf Head & Hands
The werewolf head and hands have three pour spouts to remove, two on the wrists and one on the werewolf ear. These are very small and will only need clipping off. Added to these are a few little mould lines on the ears so all in all very little cleaning to be done.
This really is a gruesome but beautiful piece of sculpting which perfectly captures the human elements twinned with the feral parts of a wolf. The expression perfectly captures the moment the head was severed with that pained grimacing look on the face and the teeth bared and clenched tight. It's great to have this in your hands to see all the tiny details so well sculpted such as those amazingly detailed teeth or the scar across the eye and the perfectly sculpted fur with great texture and variety. The when you flip it upside down you get to enjoy the detail of the severed neck complete with spine muscle and windpipe. The sculptor really has gone into great detail showing a lot of talent with anatomy and how often do you get to paint something like this.
Added to this are the hands which you almost forget about with such an amazing head sculpture but they are delicate and perfect in there gloves, I love how even gripping the hair of a dead werewolf the gloved hands still look feminine.
Final Thoughts
I have wanted this bust for a long time now but it never seemed to be in stock from a UK seller so I decided to get it straight from the producer instead. At 34.95 Euros I think this bust offers great value for money and to be honest it is more of a half figure than a bust so even at 1/12 scale you still get a lot.
There a few nice red riding hood models out there but for me this is my favourite. I think it combines all the classic elements with a nice new twist in the form of the mask and the brutally severed head. I much prefer the idea of red riding hood being the hunter and not the prey and this model really delivers on that concept.
I feel for the painter it offers a lot of options when it comes to painting choices and it also offers a great variety of surfaces with the face of red riding hood the beautifully sculpted fabrics and then the fur and gore of the werewolf head. I think this will be a fun piece to paint and not one that would be stressful as you can paint it super clean or super messy depending on how bloody you are feeling .
.Overall I would recommend this to anyone wanting a fun project of a beautiful and imaginative bust at a great price and it is still as original as the day it was released.
