Hello guys,
Preparing Carl Reid pilot bust;an excellent sculpt I must say.My question is regarding the helmet lining, jacket fur,and mittens.Tried to research but found nothing specific.I always thought lambs wool was used for the jacket and head wear but the detail of the jacket appears otherwise. As far as the mittens go I have no guess. Not familiar with the controls of the plane but might be a little tricky with mittens.Maybe someone can offer some insight.
Anyway,right or wrong I'm goin for it...........Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne,
Im aware that there were variations in linings, including a khaki serge/wool lining in some helmets and jackets. There were also privately acquired versions with goatskin, rabbit fur, etc. Hope this helps,
Steve

We are talking about the Model Cellar figure, do we?

How does the buttons go on the chest? If there is one row, starting on the right shoulder:

And: Very typically there is a map pocket on the left side of the lower chest.

For a not oblique row of buttons I checked my RFC references and could not find such a type of flying jacket. The closest I could find is the RNAS issue in black leather with dark fur.

Mittens are a personal purchase, I think, so take your choice.
