Hi guys,

I have been an onlooker lately, for quite some time but as I was a bit 'out of action' due to many unforseen accidents I wasn't very unrelactent to contribute ... but there is always a start! ;)

So I would like to share my latest project ... a Reislaufer [as my friend Augie pointed out] or Swiss Mercenery - the arch nemesis of the Landsnechts during the Renaissance period ... the figure is a 54mm Andrea one done by Rendall Patton and inspired by the old MAA Landsnecht plate. I planned this figure as a Swiss using it as a 'canvas' to train my hands on white and red mixes ... painting was done in oils over an acrylic base!

Image aws taken during Malta's Expo History in Scale 2005 ... hope more images will be on soon on www.ipmsmalta.com

Hope you like it .... :)

Ivan

A very big welcome Ivan

Very well painted figure, can we see some more pictures of this, perhaps larger...?

hope to see more of your figures as well

Dave

Thats a nice looking figure there Ivan. ;)

One of those to add to the list to get hold of.

Like the others if you can, close up photos would be great

Pete

Hello Ivan...welcome to the planet....The mercenary looks great I remember the picture in the osprey book very well. It looks like you have done a great job on the painting...but just like everyone else...I'd love to see a bigger picture of it...the reds and whites look too good to miss...(y) (y)

All the best.

Roy.

Ivan my old friend

Welcome aboard!

Good to see your work on here at last :) This piece is excellent and you have really done it justice - the red and white are done especially well.

There are some interesting plates in the Osprey you mention, including Plate D, which would make a brilliant vignette.

Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff on the planet

Best regards

Phil

PS Hope to catch up with you in June, when we will be on the island!

Looks excellent, Ivan. I love this figure but haven't been smart enough to figure out what else to do with it except follow the old illustration. As others have said, I am hoping to see more pictures of this. Great work.

Thank you guys for all the positive feedbacks ... this figure as a really joy to do, a good camvas for combinations of colours and besides can be a landsnecht or a swiss! I highly recommend it ...

sorry for small pic but I downlaoded it too small to fit in the space requested, besides it was just a snap shot during our Expo ... so if you be kind enough to wait a bit till I manage to make a decent photo session I will be more than welcome to share in Planet!

Phil, old lad, looking forward to see you in Malta ... so you have to do the pilgrimage to our club that will be a Wednesday evening ... keep in touch then so that we can meet soon mate ... and besides thanks a lot for your comments!

Ivan

I took the liberty of enlarging the photo Ivan..........hope you don't mind.

Thanks for the larger pic.

Ivan - What did you use to make the grass? Looks very realistic!

Keith

Aaah that is much better Guy ... so what ius the ideal image size for planet?

Thanks again for positive comments mates ... the grass that is a Heiki artificial offer comes like a carpet but managed to cut pieces out and glued to the already painted washed paint ... a little tacky job and lot of patience, I added some pieces of roots and finally airbrushed and drybrushed with some yellowish green ... I think it complimented to the overall red/white colour of the scheme ... though I lost some detailed painting I had done on the boots :(
