Dan Morton
A Fixture
I'm looking for a painter up to a bit of a challenge. Several painters have told me my recently completed two figure vignette would be difficult to paint. Difficult- yes. Impossible - by no means.
The 'palette' for the German. Except the helmet would not be camo.
The 'palette' for the Frenchman. This is a colonial French uniform scheme called 'moutarde khaki'.
Presumably the painting difficulty is because of the fact that the two figures are inseparable and it would be hard to paint the 'interiors' of each figure. I suppose I could have tried to sculpt each figure separately and then combine them but I was worried that lack of fit, etc., would result in the pose looking wrong. With this piece the pose is everything!
I'm wondering if this vignette - because of its degree of difficulty and slightly unusual nature - might do well in competition. Certainly I'm no expert on that! But it might!
So I'm looking for a painter up to a bit of a challenge. What say you ladies and gentlemen? If you are interested, please e-mail me. My standard 'deal' with painters applies. You paint two pieces and keep one. Thanks!
All the best,
Dan
