Hi guys I'm looking for some suggestions on representing beads of sweat on a bust.
I'm nearing completion of Andreas 'Viking Fury' bust and would like to try to represent sweat on the forehead and top of cheeks.
Any thoughts, suggestions, views would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Derek

Del I used tiny beads of varnish on Steve Readdie's knight you'll be able to do it a lot easier on something like this but I found teasing it off a cocktail stick with a pin was the easiest way to get a bead to form (y) BTW don't make my mistake and look up sweating men on the internet for reference pics :wideyed:  :wtf:

Jeez Steve that was quick thinking making that excuse when your missus came in the room whilst you were doing some "Left handed web-surfing!" I'll need to remember that one mate!

Another possibillity is cyano-acryl glue. Let a drop on the paper of a sticker (that part that protect the sticky side).
Pick up a thinny drop and let it set for a few seconds. then you can put it on the figure.
I have done this with blooddrops of a sword on the Myrmillio and I think it will work as sweatdrop to.

Hi Marc, I've just finished some experiments and amongst the other stuff I used a thick cyano-acryl and it seems to be the best so far. I'll check later.
Critical to control spread and size of bead of sweat so the thickness of the C-A gives a nice dome effect.
The problem now is a matter of courage, will I risk using it knowing there's no way back from a mistake?
Cheers

Glad I tried these out first. The C-A gave the best 'beading' effect but they are all so tiny you lose the sense of water drops on skin, the skin tone dominates and the effect is a bit like smallpox scarring.....the quest goes on.

Alternative way that's occurred to me Del is to make it from stretched clear sprue carefully shaped with a craft knife be hellish fiddly though

Apart from being fiddly Steve I think the problem is you then have to stick the beads onto the bust.
I'm going to try some techniques with Liquin

You can build it up to the thickness you want.

Hi Del

Done a little experiment on an old practice piece,re sweat beads
This seemed to wrk . using two part epoxy resin glue applied with cocktail stick while the mix is just made ,working time is short though as it starts to set ,but would try a test piece first .

I seem to remember years ago reading something about the use of Vaseline.....any thoughts.
Keep it clean and out of the gutter......that's my job :D

Apart from the obvious embarrassment of buying Vaseline I can't see how it would work over any length of time myself
