WIP Return to Oz vignette

Hi everyone,
Just received my latest issue of 'Fantasy Figure International' magazine and this very evocative Wizard of Oz image on the front cover caught my eye and interest .

As luck would have it, one of my local hobby shops had a set of this limited edition piece. Made by Mindwork Games, it is a 75mm resin piece featuring all the 5 characters in the story .

Excellent, almost flash-free castings and sharp details will make this a really fun piece to put together and finish .

In fact, mold lines are practically non-existent here.

They even packed the lion's teeth separately .

Hi everyone,
A little update on the progress of the vignette. As I stated earlier, casting quality was top-notch indeed and casting lines were practically non-existent. This was proven when I did clean-up of the various vignette parts, which only took me at most an hour to clean up everything . Started by putting together the lion and Toto, and placing both on the base provided . Parts fit is really good as can be seen in the attached photos, even though no puttying has been done yet . Looking forward to putting the other 3 figures together now . Cheers!

Hi everyone,
A couple of update shots for my project. Puttied and furred up Mr. Lion, put together Dorothy and Mr. Scarecrow . His right hand is joined to Mr. Tin-Man's left leg, hence the omission . One more to go .

Hi Nap,
Thanks for the kind words . Yes, indeed, as you said, luck really played a part here . Somehow, the whole vignette really spoke to my modelling mojo and it stayed stuck in my mind when I saw the photos in the magazine .
It just so happened I went down to my hobby store to get a few of the Vallejo Xpress paints and decided to perview the shelves, something which I seldom do. Lo and behold, I spotted this and immediately asked to have a look inside. One look at the fine casting and I was sold .

Nice to see your progress and hear about the hobby shop, not many of those left, sometimes I really miss that experience of going into a shop and actually looking at the bits, however we get a fantastic service from our online suppliers and I dream of the day that I can turn up at a model/figure show and go wild in the traders section, but that sort of frightens me as the grey army is already to big to get done ever!

Hi everyone,
Well, the various components of the vignette are finally glued together . Here then is the unpainted version of the 'Return to Oz' vignette for all to enjoy .
I decided to place the resin base on a walnut plaque that I found in the local craft store, which I varnished and felt-based, for ease of handling once it is painted. I am planning to expand the groundwork around the tree trunk to show a bit more of the forest floor in Oz land .
Next up is painting . Cheers!
