I started my next project, a great sculpting work of Mr.Carl Reid, and this is my first try on bust model.

Here's preparation pics before painting. I bought it last year and made it ready to paint, but I couldn't start painting somehow.
I think I was not ready for that yet.

And started painting yesterday, started from painting face.

I'm struggling with painting blonde mustache and leather jacket with acrylics, so I want to get an advice or information on painting blonde and leather jacket with acrylic.

As always, any comment are welcome!

I'm no help with acrylics, but I do have to say I really like the way you've integrated the plinth into your wooden base by sculpting and blending it into the top of the base!

Thank you very much Marc, Carl, Jay, Rob!

Oh, BTW everybody, just call me "Kaz" will be nice, Tomori is my last name so I feel like I keep calling by my teacher or my supervisor. :)

Wow that's really helpful resource for painting many types of hair! Thanks for the info, Carl!

I had no choice to do this 'cause I didn't think of any other way to make plinth stable on wooden base. :)

Great start Kazufumi.
I think it's your first bust model by my memory.
It's amazing progress already.
I'm convinced that it'll be a masterpiece.

    Mitsutaka.

Thanks a lot william, Mitsutaka, Pedro, gordy, and...Paul@ModelCeller!

Yes, this is my first bust I've ever bought, actually this is only bust I got now. :) If I make it into something I like, I will purchase another.

Can't wait to see the coat done and the overall finished product.
I'm really glad to receive such a nice comment from its seller! Thanks!
now I'm working on painting jackets, title plate...and so on. I will post the progress later.

Kaz, excellent work on the face and I also like what you've done with the base. Looking forward to following.

Cheers Ken

Kaz the face is brilliant. I like the leather jacket so far. As far as blonde hair goes my only advice would be never use yellow in the mix. Instead try different ocher shades and light browns.

Thanks a lot for your comments, Ken, Dimotrios!

Thank you very much for your advice, Dimitrios! I've been working on other areas so I will try it on mustache next!

Here's the current status...

I will add a little bit more highlights and shadows and repaint mustache in blonde next.

Thanks a lot for your compliment, Marc!

I wanted to know how or where you get the nameplate's.

I made it by myself. First, I bought these at local DIY shop.

1) 2.0mm acrylic plate
2) label paper
3) 1.0mm pins

and I designed name title with my computer, printed it out on label paper, and stick it on the base.

Then I cut 2.0mm acrylic plate with P-blade knife into the same size of the label, put on it and drilled a 1.0mm holes at 4 corners with reuter.

lastly, put 1.0mm pins into 1.0mm holes and... that's it! :)

Hello Tomori
Really very clever trick with the database and the plate at the base!
Now matter of painting as always amazing and by far the leather jacket is what we call in Greece all the money an expression impress!
I wait anxiously for your next job!
