This is a beautifully sculpted and cast metal figure produced by Soldiers.
Kit goes for $65.00, I got on sale for $30.00, not a bad price.

The figure is based upon the grave stele of Lucius Sertorius,Aquilifer of Legio XI
Claudia Pia Fidelis.
When dry I will give it more highlights and deeper shadows, using the glazing technique.

Front View.
Lorica Squamata( chest armor)
I used the same burnishing technique that I used on the Centurion.

Tunic
Same colour mixture as the Centurian.

Pteryges
White leather.
Undercoat = Poly S light gray.

Base= Liquitex parchment + Shiminki warm gray+ Titanium white.

Medium shadows = Base + Sepia.

Dark shdows = added lamp black into medium shadow mix.

Medium highlights = base mix + more Titatanium white.

extreme highlights = Pure Titanium white with just a tiny touch of Cerulium blue.

Fringes.
Under coat with apple barrel warm brown acrylic.
Base = mars yellow with a touch of mars brown.
shadows = Violet.
deep shadoes = purple.
medium highlights = Base+ Cadmium yellow.
extreme highlights = Cadmium yellow.
very extreme highlights = cadmium yellow + white.

The Medusa heads.
Undercoated with Burnt Umber acrylic.

Base = Testors Gold + burnt umber.
Shadows =Burnt Umber.
High lights = pure gold.
when dry I will apply a touch of silver to highest extremeties.

WOW,Roc,that looks like a VERY NICE figure (y) (y) ! Thanks for posting and looking forward to the progression of the model.Cheers !
Kenneth ;)

 Roc, that is looking VERY good. (y) As usual, I look forward to seeing what you do with this one. It's so easy to draw inspiration from this site. All you need to do is look at all the wonderful looking figures everyone here produces and you'll want to do one yourself. Where are the my Roman figures and all my oil..........ACRYLIC ( ;) ) paint.

Seriously though Roc, with the job you did on the armor, you have easily outdone yourself. Your best work to date. At least that I have seen. Keep 'em coming.

Jim Patrick

Thanks Jim, appreciate the nice words.

I agrree , I'm also ispired by the beautiful work that I see on this forum.

I draw much inspiration from all the talented people and that includes you, my friend.

Roc. :)

Very nice Roc, love seeing what you guys can do with armor.
The the time period too, been thinking of trying my hand at a Roman as well just havent found one that really calls to me. (y)

Really great Roc.
Do you always paint your figures (dont know the words)unglued in many parts?
And dont pin the parts with nails or anything.
I cant see drilled holes in the arms.
And your interpretation of metall is fantastic for me. I wished i can get bigger pics?
For study.
;)
How are the steps in your paintigjobs. Every figure the same procedure, I mean first the armor next the flesh and so on for example?
Or this figure on this way this on the next.

And how about filling the gabs when you glue the painted parts. No problems?

Many question from Germany.

Roc,

Your figure look's great! I can't wait to see more. It appears very well sculpted, what scale is it?

Dave

Hey Roc,

I love your the way you paint the armour. Other than glazing, do you also dry brush them?

Looking forward to more of your pic.

regards
