Just finished this magnificent bust from Young Miniatures, probably the biggest challenge I've faced in terms of painting in quite a while. There are so many textures to represent on this figure, which made it such an enjoyable test of skill. My version had a bit that broke off, right at the back of the helmet. It was a section of the rolled edge of the neck guard on the helmet, so I had to replace it with some brass wire, other wise the whole thing went together flawlessly. I have to say I was initially intimidated, and this one sat in the "bullpen" since October when I picked it up at MMSI in Chicago. But now that its done I have to wonder why I waited so long as I really enjoyed this project.

This is magnificent.Believe me,do not ever get intimidated by any figure again.Judging by what I see,you simply don't have to.

Oda.

A very fine job on this magnificent model.(y)
I went through the mill a bit on it but it but like you I had one of my most enjoyable painting experiences with it.
Well done on the fox heads, so easy to slip into cartoon mode with them.
Great work Glenn

Thanks very much Marc and Anstontyke, glad you like the effort. Hello Oda, thanks for your encouraging comments, when I first opened the box I looked at the parts like a blank canvas, and was a little confused on how to even start. The best solution was to dive in and not worry. I'm am pleased that it turned out alright in the end. Thanks also Chris, for taking the time to leave a comment and I am also glad you too liked this project.

Thanks Gellso, I have always made a bit of an effort to mute the tones on my paint pallet, especially on this figure with so many different textures and colours, I was afraid it would come of looking like an entry in a circus parade.

Thanks very much Derek. I'm glad to hear you had similar experiences with this bust. I have Euro-militaire 2018 circled on my calendar, as that is my retirement year and the missus dares not refuse me after 30 years on the job, so perhaps I can bring this one with me. First round is on me.

Excellent painting all round, particularly down to the fine detailing of the hairy arms.

Cheers,
Andrew
