This is another figure that I finished in time for the Swiss World Expo 2011. It is a Roman gladiator secutor. It is painted all with acrylics and then oils. I hope you like it.
Greetings from Sicily

I love the blue tones you used for his garment! what shades are those? I am trying to put a similar blue on the pants of a pirate at the moment and im having a dickens of a time getting the highlights to blend right. Im thinking I dont have the right colors.

Many thanks to all. For the blu tones I used a mix of prussian blu (desaturated with burnt sienna and orange) and a bit of black. All Vallejo colours. I added black for the shadow and beige for the lights. You can start from any non-dark blue, the important thing is to desaturate. I hope I helped you.

Thanks so much Tony. I have written that into my notes and will be experimenting with it. I would have never thought to desaturate with burnt sienna and orange! How can I learn this stuff! Are there books I can read to teach master painting skills?
