2782.1 Hello Guys,
I hope somebody can help me out. I'm nearly at the finish off Seils Roman Signifier.
The only thing that i must finish is the sign. At the moment when i wanted to start painting the upper board (legion and cohort number) i was thinking....
Whas this board made of iron, bronze or something else??
If it was made of iron, i think when the sun was on it, the soldiers couldn't read it, even if it was made of bronze or something else very shiny.
So, was it possible that these boards where made off wood, the numbers and letters carved in with a hot iron.....
This looks more real to me, then some metalwork.
So i wait for your answers before i go further.

The eagles were usually a precious metal like silver. The other parts were bronze sheet metal or cast discs.
