Following on from the last posting I made,i have now started to put brush to paint, all the shields I will do together, this first bust out of the four I plan doing has been about 70% complete,i still have the right arm to finish and I need to tidy up some details, for those who are expecting the shinning armour look,i need to warn you now, this will be a piece like a lot of my other subjects of soildiers on campaign, not just out of the costume shop, its a look I like to bring to my subjects which define a soldier in battle or on campaign.
As per usual, its oils over acrylics, having been away from the brushes for a while it felt strange getting back into it to be honest, but the mojo and desire are slowly returning.

I think that you have a nice idea set up with these fantastic busts, lots work to do.
If you allow me to make a comment, I think that the Segmentata has too many weathering on it,
too much information, is hard to identify the metal colour looks like rusty metal stead.

Just an opinion

Many thanks de Brito,I've looked at a lot of pictures, paintings, etc,on campaign the armour was quite weathered and I did say in the text about the weathering, metal does have rust streaks and stains upon it,that's part of the weathering process,I appriciate your coments but I won't be changing anything on it,I'm happy with it,like I said in the text I don't go for the parade clean look

Thank you for your thoughts

Cheers Brian , that’s what I have been using as well. Heard the Scale 75 metallics are really good.

Cheers Davie
Yes I've heard that myself,I do t have a fixed method when painting armour,I try different mixes on the palette and I mix them with oils as well, and I've used the dark star washes as well which are nice

Hi Brian

Great to see you at the bench and in campaign mode as well ...your style as I said before is instantly recognised ..in a good way !

For me the rusting effects works well ...certainly going to need a lot of work back in barracks ...if he makes it !

Thanks for sharing this

Putting these together will be a great piece of artwork ...wonder if we will see any backdrop ?

Happy benchtime
