Hi All
This is the start of a project that I had planned over the Christmas break, three Romans and a horse to make a small diorama, I have started on the base and have made all the holes for the figures to drop into, I just need to complete architecture and groundwork then glue the figures in place once finished.
This is the first one of three, Soldiers 54mm Roman general, a real beauty to paint and assemble. He is painted in humbrols and oils. I am already working on the second figure for the diorama which will be a Roman Aquilifer and the third will be a legionary. I will post more figures up soon of the base work and progress on the other figures.
Cheers

He looks fantastic Tommi. I will be watching to see how this develops. I have a similar scene in the works, without the horse.

Many thanks Guy, I am still debating myself on the horse, it’s just that I have bought it now so feel like I should use it and I have allocated the space for it.
The new casting of the Solders kits are a real dream to work with, they go together so well and the level of detail is outstanding. Will be working on the second figure tomorrow all going well, full of flu at the moment and seem to be spending more time sleeping that anything else at the moment.
Cheers

Brilliant work my friend. I like vigniettes and scenes , so this one will be pretty much interesting for me . Which ones will be the 2 other kits that you will use ? and what horse ?

Costas

Many thanks Costas, I will be using two more later Soldiers figures the pointing Aquilifer and the legionary with the big shield on his back, I am part way through the second figure and hope to have him finished in the next few weeks.
Cheers

Very beautiful painting Tommi, i like the colors choice and the leather of the coat, bravo !! I look forward to see the work completed with the horse.

Tommi,

That's one beautiful paint job. The figure seems to jump out at you. I'm really looking forward to the finished diorama.

Your results are very inspiring to this relative beginner but do I really need to switch to oils & then catch the flu to reach this level? I'm thinking it might be worth the effort.

Try a mixture of slightly warmed apple & currant juice (for drinking not painting). It's supposed to be the newest cold & flu wonder cure.

You make me laugh today for the first time with your comments, I am looking forward to getting on with the rest of this but just frustrated with being not too well and falling asleep.
I like to use oils only because I have been painting with them on and off for about 30 years and have tried other mediums with no success, stick with what I know.
I just sent the wife into the kitchen to try out you miracle cure recipe thanks for the info.
Cheers

Looks like you are off to great start with this figure Tommi, looking forward to seeing the rest of this project. Lets hope this flu will not keep you from painting for to long.

All the best David

Many thanks David, Marc and Pedro, I will be making a big effort to go foward with this today.
Cheers
