Many thanks guys for your kind comments, really pushing hard to get this finished now, just seen Guy`s Roman Auilifer which has given me inspiration to get this figure finished to add to the diorama, next posts should be of the completed project.
All the Reality in scale Roman columns are worth every penny, such a quality product

Hi Dimgall
Yes no problem with that. The entire base was sprayed in white acrylic and left to dry, several coated were used as the resin from the columns is dark grey resin. When this was dry I then stared to paint the columns in washes using acrylic burn sienna leaving it to dry in between coats, speeded up using a hair dryer, just kept building up the layers but starting using a heavier mix to add to the bottom half of the column.

Once this had all dried I then used a sepia oil paint in the grooves of the columns working from the bottom upwards with a small flat brush to blend in the dark area, stick it in the hot box for two hours to dry then take it out and repeat the process again with the sepia oil.

I also applied some sepia and lamp black oil washes to the rest of the ruins laying around, allowing it to run into all the recesses and cracks. The whole thing was left to dry in the hot box for about four hours then taken out and various stages of dry brushing used to bring out all of the raised detail, starting with light grey and finishing off with white for the extreme highlights.

The ground is just washes of burnt sienna, sepia and terra verte (green), and chrome orange oils.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Tommi
