Howdy all,
I'm working on Romeo's 54mm Sicilian Hoplite, one of my rare forays outside of medieval subjects. The box art is rather monochromatic - bronze and black with a bit of red. This is in contrast to the instructions which say the Greeks had a love of color and the tunic, helmet crest, and leather/linen fringes could be painted any color. Owing to the limits of the dyeing materials and technology at the time, what colors would be most appropriate?
I've done some looking around on the internet, but I've come up with only vague ideas. I did find some nice shield designs, though.
Any help?
Cheers,
Glen
