Hey Guys,

Here is my most recent review for the Michigan Toy Soldier Blog, about the round tipped brushes for "Dry Brush" technique.

We now have several players in this market with brushes of amazing built quality, so now we have options and also greater value for money. We can now choose a brand and not pay excessive money for a tool, just because it looks good.
I bought these brushes myself and after review, they are now available at the shop (link in article).

Good review. Even though it's fallen out of favour somewhat in recent years, I still think that drybrushing can be very effective when it's done well.

Interesting, way back in the day I would have used dry brushing with Humbrol a lot, an important part of finishing off my figures but 30 years on it just doesn't seem to work for me, Humbrols have changed and the acrylics are dry before the brush touches the figure, however these brushes look as though they will take the punishment of dry brushing so I am tempted to give them a go with Acrylics using Retarder.

In Europe, may be easiest to get the Artis Opus drybrushes which are very very similar if not the same relabeled ..I use them for smoothing and blending oils ..while synthetic the bristles have a spring skin to hogs hair..julian shows how to use them very clearly..

Back in the old days I nipped of my old worn round brushes tip and used it for dry brushing and it works great. This set looks promising I may give it a try.

If you haven’t a local supply, the artis Opus are carried by Lords Of War in Toronto. Another member here, Paul Kernan also shops there..they mail order and it’s a week to my door..Mich Toy is good, but takes time and shipping brutally pricey from US

They sure are made to last. Also, I use VMS SLO-MO retarder medium on the dry brush paints, works like a charm, perfect open time for most jobs, and super smooth.
You can even add glaze medium to smoothen things out. Having a good tool like these kind of brushes, acrylics these days have all kinds of "Tuning" so we don't need to make it with oils or enamels, which are messy for this.

Yup, Artis Opus are the standard, but overpriced because of packaging.

Either way, Army Painter is releasing these kind of brushes too, so it's a good thing to have options, specially for value / price benefits, if they work in similar way...
