Adrian I am sure she will love her time in whatever role she chooses, as Brad Pitt says in Fury "best job I ever had" I got out 8 years ago and that was only because Tony Blair decided our Regiment didn't need to exist any more. Still miss the banter and camaraderie.

Luckily she is a bit sporty but she's a sprinter and needs to learn stamina - she has determination so that is on her side. And she has a love for the military sense of humor - already she has impressed the personnel on her PDA with her attitude. They were quite impressed as she put a few of the other candidates in their place - she doesn't suffer fools gladly!
The stamina will come through training, and it sounds as if she'll have no problems in standing up for herself if needed.

My daughter has her selections this week she is aiming to be a CMT - I hope she has a fantastic time - she is looking forward to it she has the right mentality.

I did 24 years as a medic/ CMT, you daughter has made the right choice. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Ventress

wow you are the one to talk to...please get in touch if you have any pearls of wisdom.

I think she will do well.

I did 7 years with my old mob and still keep in touch. My old regiment had 4 Bns (1970s)and now 2 but all the company's are named after the previous regiments. Not good but at least they survive in name only.

I have not got the skill to paint these large scale figure's but as Peedee says perhaps cap badges is the way forward for a particular Regt.
I wish you well.

none of us had the skills but we all practice - take the plunge and get a bust or something small. If nothing else you'll have fun.

All the regiments should have their names preserved - history should demand it.

I thought I'd throw these on for reference just on the chance. This is a TOS as worn now but they were worn like this as a "battle bonnet" on Ops or exercise with a black badge.

Some pics of the glengarry, note how it flattens out at the back when worn not like a fore and aft cap. This would be the badge worn on the TOS as well, without the hackle (plume) I hope these come in handy for somebody, it is difficult to sculpt the rear of a headdress without decent pics. My face has been removed to protect the innocent! lol.
