These figures are from the Royal set #232. There are still lots of details to be added, and the figures were painted in Vallejo acrylics. This is my first 'serious' attempt to complete entire figures with this medium.

The figures look great Martin. You have done well with acrylics. Can't reall critique them due to not seeing them close enough. What is your next step?

Guy,

thanks for the comments. My next step will be to add the various bits of kit like headphones/cables and holsters. I have followed Jaume Ortiz's technique. The blending process must be a fine art, and I have many years to practice it I hope. Since I have a good macro on my camera I have declined to do closeups until my technique improves! I would appreciate help with Vallejo colour choices for the Nordic blonde hair I have to replicate on the loader figure. This site has been elemental in my decision to risk the transition to acrylics for the flesh tones.

Happy modelling

Here's a close up. I can't physically get any closer with the tripod, so this will have to do for now.

Ahhh.....much better Martin and it shows the great painting you have done. My only suggestion would be to add more contrast by shading the creases with a darker color in the shirts and pants. Keep up the super work.

Guy I'm working on that for my next panzercrew, I just need to get the thinning right. And I also need a suggestion for a colour to darken the Vallejo Camo Pale Violet with.

Cheers

Martin

Hi Martinn,

Burnt Umber and/or black should do the trick to darken the colour. The figures are allready looking very good. I hope to see them in the flesh one day. Keep up the good work,

Gino.

Gino,

I have been following your inspirational work on a few websites. Thanks for the comments.

Hi Martin
Much better pic.
I agree with Guy to give a bit more contrast to the uniforms.
I think outlining them would help
The faces are great!
To darken the Camo pale violet you can use Chocolate brown(it gives some heat to shadows but not too dark) or Camo Black-brown(darker but more neutral)
Keep up the good work

Hola Jaume

many thanks for the tips with the shadow mix. Taking the risk and moving to acrylics seems to have paid off with the flesh painting. Hopefully I can get the hang of the blending too. How do you advise me to outline the uniforms? The camo itself or the pockets etc?

Kindest regards

Martin
