Morning Paul ......hadn't noticed but now you mention it I'm concerned on two counts about the way this thread is going
1) Low level Racism ........ ok our national costume might not have the same Macho look as a Morris Dancer ..... but it's no reason for some to mock us as a nation.

2) Some barely disguised **** Erotic references throughout.
Sad to say that yet again the originator of the thread, a fellow Scot and a friend, triggers this direction of discussion.
I'm sure that most members will have noticed that there is a small group who enthusiastically pursue this theme......
It's about time they went back to their original interest in things of a lanolin nature ;)

Del.

:ROFLMAO:, A fair point! ... even I cannot defend, 'Morris Dancing'. ... I don't give damn if its traditional or not. Its wrong! :D

Mark.

Del, I truly cant see how?;)

It's funny, it got me thinking what is 'English National Dress'. We have none! Bar a 'Bowler-Hat', and an 'Umbrella'. ... Quite sad really.

Mark.

In reality Scottish National Dress as we know it, is largely a Georgian / Victorian construct. It was of course based on genuine practical clobber worn by highlanders.
It does look good though (y)
As a borderer I have no tradition of the kilt in my family background but I've got the full traditional daywear outfit with the Argyll jacket and waistcoat.
There's nothing looks as bad as someone wearing a formal set up at an informal occassion and like any national dress you can spot a hire a mile away.
The only problem is that it's so bloody heavy, 9 yard kilt, and takes up so much space in a suitcase that the best way to take it on a flight is to wear it ....... it's not really designed for any sort of travel though:D
So don't know who started the rumo(u)r......... but I for one will stick to my Spandex onesie

Del, Don't get me started on the 'Victorians',.. 'Bloody Vandals', the lot of them.

However, your 'Spandex Onesie', will make you easily identifiable, in the crowd. ..

I swear this is the truth. ... I once took my father to the, 'Ally-Pally,' Model-railway exhibition, a few years back! Once inside the exhibition hall, I was distracted for about 7 seconds and looked away. I turned back to speak to him ... Gone!!

Every bloke in there was exactly the same height, and the same two- tone jacket, with thinning grey hair, with a ruck-sack on his back. it took ages to find him again.

So, yeah the 'Onesie', is a good idea.:D

Mark.

Tartan banana hammock is the way to go for comfort while still respecting your forebears' skin. I have them in dress, hunting and ancient Fraser. Sadly the ancient Fraser gets most wear.

I unfortunately read bear's foreskin in your post Colin....o_O .......could make a hammock I suppose with some tenderising....:nailbiting:

For a start, any chance of you could use the correct spelling for rumour Listen to who's talking , something is just not right there:rolleyes:

For a start, any chance you could use the correct spelling for rumour. A slight error while typing, but not the use of an americanism
