This is another recent release from S.K.Miniatures. A resin and white metal cast 1/9th Scale bust of a Trooper 1st Cavalry Division Vietnam. Sculpted by Carl Reid.

The Bust is cast in five resin parts of which one part is the pedestal base and the M16 rifle is cast in white metal with two white metal strap ends. All parts are pack securely in a sturdy box with foam protection.

The main part of the bust shows nice detail with only a small mould plug to remove at the base, Carl has sculpted nice character into the face of this bust, we can also see additional detail and tetures that have been used.

The equipment back pack locates nicely into the recess on the back of the bust. The sculpted detail and casting is very sharp.

The helmet is a good fit and again shows good detail, we can now starting seeing this piece come together.

IMG6.jpg

The arms locate well into the recessed socket on the main bust, the right arm has the hand missing as this is cast onto the M16 rifle.

A closer inspection of the detail of the M16 rifle and additional strap parts.

Conclusion:
Another nice new release in the ever growing range of figures and busts from S.K.Miniatures. Again sculpted by the very talented hands of Carl Reid. This piece shows good level of detail with minimal clean-up of the castings. Dry run of part fitting shows and exact fit, this will prove very popular for all those interested in Vietnam Scene, Highly Recommended.

 yer glad I dont have a mortgage anymore. Came back with 28 review pieces from the show this year so gradually working my way through them, thing is they are all good including some figures from companies that have never been featured on PF before, will be working on them over the weekend:)

Cheers

Wouldn't normally comment on this era but having used an M16, seems like an unusual position for the sling around the foresight. Typically we had a sling attachment at the end of the foregrip, wouldn't be that difficult to correct.

I do like the bust & nice touch having LAW launcher in top of pack. Perhaps could add a smoke grenade or two for another touch, as these would be indispensable signalling tool for 1st Air Cav trooper.

For you consideration,

Mike

A UK subject, especially one rendered the right way, is always something of a hard-earned prize. For it is even rarer than Soviet subjects.

Bravo to Carl and Steve for another consistently solid offering.

Happy to help mate, would have certainly considered giving it a go myself if I was actually painting at present.

You've been doing some fine things lately so look forward to your take on it.

Go the AB's!!!!!
