Safe paint removal?

Can anyone suggest the safest and most effective way to remove paints from resin parts?
I have managed to aquire another of the Post Militaire kits but the head has been painted and I wish to improve the quality of my first attempt...

I have used Mr. Muscle oven cleaner to safely remove paint from resin. I spray the part with Mr. Muscle, put it in a ziplock bag and let it set for 20 minutes and then wash with a tooth brush under warm water to remove the paint residue.

Warning stuff does stink and I would use gloves.
