Hey guys,
Here's a quick pic of my progress on the second figure from my saloon vignette. The flesh areas are not quite finished yet and his hat will be added later. Also, the white shirt (only the collar is visible) and spurs on his boots have not been painted yet. This was my first attempt at large areas of black clothing - I'll let you guys be the judge of how I did. Thanks for looking.

Very nice. I'm no expert, but I think your black is quite well done.

I'm just working my way through the Deadwood television series and the combination of that with your saloon project is making me want to start one of my own (old west project, not saloon :) )!

Jason superb paintwork sofar!
Would love to see the diorama together, another masterpiece.

Regards,
Marcel.

It may as well have been your 50th attempt at black my friend! You are far too humble, this is fantastic! Is it me, or are the hands on this sculpt a tad big? Can't wait to see this thing finished!

Thank you for your comments! David H. - the black is basically Cartacci's approach per his book. Black plus a tan/brown such as English Uniform and then shades of flesh to highlight. Unlike Cartacci's formula in his book, I never used white. Jay - re the hands, I never really noticed it looking at the figure, but I agree - in the pic the hands do look a bit big, particularly his left. These are really some fantastic figures though. I think the sculptor may have gone a bit overboard with the amount of wrinkles in the clothing, but that's nitpicking. These are overall beautiful sculpts. I'm very surprised I've never seen this vignette at any shows.
