Thanks Tony,, I'ts free-hand painted with a little aid: I drawed the design in Illustrator and printed it at scale on a transparent acetate sheet, so I could constanly correct the proportions by putting it over the shield and comparing both drawings..

I was not satisfied at all with the excessive height of the plinth, Which lenght is determined by the huge size of the hoplon shield. So I tried to solve the thing by building a section of column (made of plaster)
Here is the result:
