Arriving in a heavy flat cardboard box with all parts sandwiched between layers of bubble-wrap and the small parts sealed inside a zip-lok bag. The long spear was taped to the box lid to help prevent damage during shipping. The bottom photograph shows all the parts out for inspection.

Conclusion:
This is one of the best, if not the best, 54mm Samurai warriors I have ever seen. The high quality of the detail and casting clearly show in the photographs. Highly recommended.

It looks like they have also spent some time thinking about how the figure will be painted and assembled. I like the fact that the fitting for the arms looks like it will be easy and secure and similarly the helmet and the seat look like they fit the figure well. It looks like it doesn't need much cleanup work before painting.

AuthorSculpt are to be congratulated on creating an amazingly detailed figure that is easy to prepare and assemble.
Gerry

PS: As a complete aside, I'm intrigued by the vise used to hold the figure for the photos. Can you tell us more about that? I'd be interested in learning more and finding out how to get one. Thanks, Gerry

I have purchased several of these vises through Micro-Mark tools. Best vise for holding parts, busts that I have ever found.

Hi Guy,
That is a corker of a figure for detail and loads of painting options. Certainly beyond me. I have attached a few photo's I took at Leeds Royal Armoury for anyone who is thinking about buying one of these. Might help with inspiration,

Guy,
Thanks for the tip. I have visited the Micro-mark site and it's amazing. I had never heard of them and they've got some very useful items.
Best regards,
Gerry

Thanks all for kind words-
Certainly I thank my friend Guy!
This figure has arisen due to the master Talant Soodanbekov.
My small part - idea and some details.
Yours faithfully, I do not say goodbye, Sergey.

I really must be getting old because I cannot remember the name of the manufacturer of a metal version of this back in the 70's. I recall that it was a bigger scale than this. It would be nice if somebody could help me out if only to satisfy my own curiosity

I bought one a month ago. Mine arrived with the box crushed. One of the arrow was broken. The arrow shaft is just to thin. But amazing detail for a 54mm figure.

My regret - mail sometimes really has deformation.
It is dear from Russia to Canada long, through ocean - sometimes (seldom) there is a deformation.
Arrow - replacement by sewing needles is certainly better.
Resin kit and White metal for a jeweller detail always soft also has distortion.
Yours faithfully.

Hi Ken, are you possibly thinking of the seated samurai Ray Lamb did back then. There were two versions but common parts to both.

Regards,

Ron

Just checked out the two Ray Lamb seated samurais Ron and maybe they are the ones that are in the back of my mind. Although the one I thinking about was almost identical to this one. It is possible that somebody did a conversion o the seating for a show like the Model Engineer Exhibition but I just recall a review that was saying the seating and base was a pain because of the weight. Perhaps I am just getting old and confused.
