I use the dremel to remove those big casting blocks on fe. Verlinden figures:
a couple of cuts with the saw, then gently break it off, and remove the rest with an X-acto.
You can use the bit with the replaceable round sanding papers to smooth the bigger surfaces (fe. the body half and the legs). This works quite well.
Of course, bear in mind that resin dust is said to be toxic - so avoid high speed sanding if you can.
