In solidarity with James I would say that I've wondered a bit about this, not least because there are pretty clear rules about disposing of liquid resin along with chemical waste rather than letting it go down the drain. It is also not unreasonable to be concerned about the quantity of non-biodegradable particulates in the water supply (check out microplastics), this is a significant issue and it isn't unreasonable to not want to contribute to it, even in a small way.
It's pretty obnoxious to mock people for not knowing stuff, it's worse to mock people for making a little extra effort to do the right thing.
