Hello,

I have finished the paintingwork on the Saxon bust, produced by Bonapartes miniatures.
https://www.bonapartesmilitarymodels.co.uk/saxon-garde-du-corps-bust-406-p.asp
It depicts the Zastrow regiment after the painting from Knötel.
I hope you like my efforts.

Ben

Beautiful paint job, it certainly shows off the detail in the uniform. I'm beginning to see the advantage of the larger scale busts - and prefer the half-figure sculpts (with arms and full torso) to the head & shoulder type - over a full figure in 54mm or even 75mm. Though I am surprised to see this guy with a full cuirass (front and back), as the references tend to indicate that only the breastplate was worn?

Thanks for your comemnt. You are right. That's a historical mistake by the sculptor...I have paint it as a full cuirass because the overcoat hide nearly the whole backside [exc me for my English...].

I really like the yellow work on the cape, how it transitions in the shaded areas to a slight orange tint. Beautiful, brings out the depth really well, IMHO. Very vivid tones, outstanding work Ben!
